Lyricism 1–10 points
The technical and artistic application of complex literary devices and rhyme schemes that add depth, emotion or critique to written material.
1–4 points
- The material reflects a novice understanding of these elements.

5–8 points
- The material reflects a capable to skilled understanding of these elements and how to utilize them.
- The material includes a variety of elements that are correctly used in multiple instances.

- The material incorporates low-effort material, even if original.
3–4 points
- The material reflects nuanced and original thought regarding common topics.
- The material introduces some unique or original concepts and few, if any, commonplace references within battle rap.
- The battler incorporates some performance elements to accompany their material to better convey abstract thoughts or command attention.
5 points
- The material displays consummate writing that utilizes multiple elements to convey abstract ideas, nuanced critiques or tailored messages to the audience.
- The majority of the material was original or tailored for the intended target or made itself topical through appropriate exposition.
